Aliens vs. Astronauts

Jaxon had a fun filled b-day party yesterday. He wanted an Alien party and at first I have to say I wasn't too excited but thanks to the Internet. (birthdaypartyideas.com) is my favorite we came up with some fabulous ideas. the kids arrived and we made alien masks they gave themselves extra eyes (some more than others) and all sorts of alien like details.

The end result was pretty fun great and they all looked so cute. We then headed down stair to "outer space" where we had black lights and glow in the dark games. we could only take pictures with flash so you can't see the effect but it was pretty cool looking but quite the feet to get it all blacked out. and the black lights were just a light bulb type and didn't work very well.

the kids had to toss moon rocks to each other (balls into cups) they were suppose to do it with glow in the dark cups and balls but the balls didn't glow see had to turn the lights on still fun though.

The boys then came upstairs to make bottle rockets I wanted them to look like a rocket but they were going to get wet so we ended up with sticky fun foam which worked fantastically they rolled them in fun foam and we made tops then they decorated them with stickers etc. and they were darling. We waited to the end of the party to launch because I new that they would never want to stop and I was right.

the kids then headed out to play Alien's vs. astronaut asteroid launch (dodge ball) I tried to get the "alien" team to wear there masked so we knew alien's vs. astronauts and it worked for the first few rounds but I don't think they could see too great so they gave up on them.

We then headed inside to open presents he got tons of fun toys and some Ben 10 alien toys I love it when people get caught up in the birthday theme I am so a birthday them girl! Thanks to all his friends and family who came and brought great gifts!

We sang happy birthday and ate alien cake and ice cream "green" sherbet ice cream for effect!
The boys then headed out to "launch" there rockets. I found a bottle launcher on the Internet made out of PVC pipe and activated by a bike pump and it was awesome you put a little water in the bottom of a water bottle they said a 2 litter but we just used 20oz and they worked great but when you pump the bike pump the water connects with the air and sends the bottle a good 30ft in the air and sends water flying which as an added bonus!

They then departed with an alien cookie and a UFO take home bag filled with outer space treats (moon pies, milky ways, starbursts, little aliens, stickers and a flying saucer) the spaceships were made from clear salad containers you get from restaurants and spray painted I think they turned out so fun and the kids thought it was awesome so that is what counts. Grin thinks I am crazy, he says I should just send them in the back yard with the garden hose and a Popsicle they would be just as happy which is true but I love it so while they are young and will let me I will continue to theme up the b-day parties. Now we are on to polka dots for Ella's 2nd b-day coming in July and I am sooo excited about it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAXON WE LOVE YOU TONS AND CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT A BIG KID YOU ARE BECOMING! Thanks for being such a great son.
