Progress, Progress, Progress!!

So we are finally starting to look like there is an end to this madness! Thanks to my dad in helping with all the techincal stuff and Grin's dad and bro in the down and dirty labor we are getting closer to completion. In the past 2 months since my last progress post grin has ran new electrical including 7 new can light, 3 pendants, and I don't even know how many more outlets. He has also closed off the plumbing we don't need and run wires for the dishwasher, cooktop, and ovens. This weekend they hung drywall and taped everything and prepped for the tile. We still have a lot to do but it is finally looking like something! YEAH! Grin is such a trooper I just love him!

College roommates pay a visit!!!

This was Then,This is now! and there are lots of babies missing!

Yesterday some of my dearest friends came for a visit. We don't see each other as often as we should but it is so great that we can get together and still share our dreams, achievments, failures and frustrations. Oh how I value those friendships. So girls just in case you don't know I love you all (Even those who aren't pictured in the before pic)your friendships mean the world to me. Thanks for your concern and interest in my life. I love being able to see how far we have come (good and bad) since we were sophmores in college and thought we had it all figured out or at least we had a few things figured out like:

Wednesday was made for country swinging, You can make anything into a potty if needed, Your furniture doesn't necessarily have to be inside your apartment, just maybe you will get better sleep on top of the house rather than inside it, If you put your mind to it you can kill a jack rabbit with a rolling pin, Al will do anything if you put the right price on it (p.s. I can upload the pictures as proof if you want Al just say the word)
I could go on forever but you get the picture. I can't wait until the next time we can get together with or without kids (although I think Stacey will agree with me without is a little bit easier).

The Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay

The R.O.U.S.Team

Somehow I convinced Grinner to run with me in the Ragnar Relay. I think I mentioned competition and he came running (this time literally). It is a 181 mile run from Logan to Park City. You are on a team of 12 and each person runs 3 legs 3 to 8 miles each for a total of 13 to 19 miles in about 24 hours. You run all night and all day. What a blast! It sounds crazy I know in fact there were several times that I thought we must be off our rockers for even attempting it. (That was during my first leg 5 miles in the 90 degree weather didn't set well with me. But the other two legs were awesome and we really had a great time. Our team was the R.O.U.S's (Runners of unusual speed) taken from Princess Bride (Rodents of Unusual Size) We all had t-shirts with different quotes on them mine "I'm not a Witch I'm your wife" rather fitting during this time of remodeling. Grin's Said " It's not my fault being the biggest and strongest, I don't even exercise." This stemmed from the fact that he did the least amount of training and was likely to finish better than most of us which he did. Sometimes I just want to smack him. With the exception of a few blisters we all came out really quite well. Our team finished 222nd out of 579 teams.

Our total time was 27:58:24.1 making an average of 9:16 per mile
The winners time was 17:19:34.8 Making an average of 5:69 per mile (HOLY COW)
The slowest team finished in 36:01:41.8 Making an average of 11.93 mile

So we did pretty well I think thanks to those who are real runners. Although my short run 3.1 miles I ran at a 8:30 pace I know it is sad but I felt pretty good about that I really do consider myself a 10 minute mile woman.

All in all I highly recommend it right down to trying and getting a few hours sleep in the school gym on the wrestling mats (not fun but all part of the experience)

This attachment is a newspaper article that mentions our team brief but cool
StandardNET/Standard-Examiner

Grin and I just before the race full of much more energy

These are both during our first legs (the hot ones) we tried to drink and run at the same time but it didn't work very well

Roger (our team mates Blisters yikes!) Thanks for taking one for the team Rog!

Just some of our kills(people you pass while you run) along the way

Jaxon's B-day

Jaxon turned 6 on the 7th of June (better late than never right) here is a little tribute to him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAX!!!

Jaxon is such a fun little boy. He is so full of energy and comes up with the darnest things to say. He is smarter than a whip and can come up with counter offers and nagociations like crazy. I really have to stay on my toes. He loves being with people and has a hard time playing alone even watching movies or playing the WII he wants me or have a friend to play/watch with him. He is extremely competitive though (if you know my husband you can figure out why) however he doesn't really know how to handle it yet so if he finds himself loosing he will quickly find a reason to stop playing or an excuse why it isn't going his way. I try so hard to teach him to be a good looser and play fair I hope some day he gets it. He loves playing all kinds of ball especially with his dad. Grin can't spend enough time with him shooting hoops, playing catch, or practicing golf. He is always saying (we never play) even when it has been 5 minutes since they were out playing. He is truly a joy to have around and always saying something or doing something to make us laugh we love him so much and don't know what this family would be like without him. WE LOVE YOU JAX! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Lagoon Fun

Jaxon had a ball at Lagoon. I am just amazed at how much braver he is than his mother. I remember going on the colosuss for the first time at about 10 or 12 barely talking myself into it. He didn't even think twice and loved it. He also went on the spider, bat, tidal wave, white roller coaster and the wild mouse (I hate the wild mouse but it was the boys favorite yikes!)

Jaxon and his friend Mickey on the wild mouse.
Jax and Mickey on the new ride Odysee Grin and I didn't go with them it was freezing and you are guaranteed to get wet so no thanks but the boys didn't seem to mind.
Jax and Michael on the train. They loved seeing the animals

LIVE AND LEARN

Friday night my sisters kids came over for a sleep over so they could have a night on the town (her husband's birthday) Anyway I think that I blogged the story of the "twins" (my Gavin and her Edyn both 2 1/2 yrs. old) put metal in my mom's microwave and about burned the house down. Well apparently we didn't learn enough from that event so we got another lesson. I had forgotten to turn the oven off after cooking dinner (something I have a hard time with:( ) anyway when the babies get together they love to play house and "cook" hence the microwave incident. Well they starting putting there "dinner" which included a
play mixing bowl about 4 peek-a-blocks and 3 or 4 jars of baby food and 2 other things that were unreconizable in the oven. They do this lots but usually the oven is off so here are the lesson's we learned from this incident.

  • Kristie learned to TURN OFF THE OVEN
  • Grin learned that when babies are putting stuff in the oven check it or tell them to stop
  • Jaxon, Ali, and Zachary learned that if you are having a hard time breathing becuase it reeks of smoke TELL AN ADULT

Well I was upstairs and smelled smoke grin and I RAN down stairs to find a basement filled with black soot smoke. I honestly do not know how the kids were not coughing for breath and the stove was actually on fire flames and all. we grabbed the baking soda and grin put it out. AAAAAHHHHH! so so scary and the scariest part of all was the kids who just sat there so engulfed in the WII they didn't seem to care or notice. It was a big scare for all of us everyone got a big lecture on fire safety.
