My dad, I guess loves to garden I am not really sure if he loves it or just feels like it is what he should be doing, regardless we are VERY grateful for his efforts in producing us with our food storage. I have to admit I even complain at times about having to bottle. Even as it comes out of my mouth I know it is wrong. I mean half the time fresh produce is delivered to my door for free and I have the gall to complain?? Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that I am pretty proud come November how my storage room looks. So far this year we have bottled and/or dried pears, peaches, apricots, beans, corn, plums, salsa, grapes, several varieties of jams/jellies/syrups, and we just have the apple juice, apple sauce, and apple pie filling left to go, its in my garage waiting for me to get up the energy:( . My favorite part of my dad's garden however is "Grandpa's Pumpkin patch" he plants several plants and gets at least 100 pumpkins each year and every year we get together for dinner with all the cousin's and we harvest grandpa's patch. The kids first pick there own pumpkins and put them in our cars. Then we pick all the others for Grandpa to sale. (for those of you in Utah county head on over and get your pumpkins at my dad's house he just has a jar to put your money in and you can pick your own from the pile) anyway we put them all in the truck and then at the side of the house to sale. The kids have a blast picking them and taking rides in the wheel barrow. Grandpa constantly thanks us all for our help and comments how it has saved him days of work but truthfully we get the most out of it, our pumpkins to carve, and time together working in the garden and letting my kids make great memories with their Grandparents. before we empty the truck there always has to be a quick pic of the kids with Grandma and Grandpa then team work again empties the truck. then into the house for a fall desert this year apple cobbler! I just love fall!!
