My how life has been crazy. This is my first post since October of last year :( Kennedi is getting so big. She turned 2 in February and in the last month or so has decided that she should turn into that "two year old". Here are a few exciting moments at our house.
"The week from you know where"
Kennedi is or should I say was a binky baby. I swore that she would not keep it past two but February came and went and I didn't do anything about it. Mostly because our dear sweet sister Ella (who is almost 6) has a thumb sucking problem that we can't seem to fix (hence the binky that I shoved in Kennedi's mouth every chance I got to avoid having another thumb sucker) anyway I saw her put her thumb in her mouth a couple of times after seeing Ella and was afraid that she would become a thumb sucker if I took away the binky so we kept it. I have however been monitoring it closely and she was pretty much a bed time binky kid it stayed in her bed and if she wanted it she went to her crib to suck on it. About a month ago we went through a few days that were extra hectic and so I was dragging her out of her bed out the door and she was keeping the binky. One morning I had told her she had to go to her bed if she wanted to suck on it. Well the meltdown started she was kicking and screaming on the floor like the good little two year old she is and I had had enough I told her that we were done, pulled the scissors out of the cupboard, cut the top of the binky off and handed it too her. I didn't really think that she would register what I was doing but I was wrong. She spend the next hour crying "no cut my binky", "I no want my binky cut" and so on, I felt so so bad but it was done so there you go. I then quickly found all the others and did the same to them so I couldn't give in and we started out on a week long journey of no sleep. She never asked for the binky, instead she simply screamed. bedtime and naps were not pleasant and it triggered enough frustration that she then climbed out of her crib which we tried to add higher rails to prevent and it took her about 30 seconds to scale the cribs ends. So after one night of putting her in her crib 15 times we pulled it down and put her mattress on the floor. So then we had a sad, no binky, no crib baby aghhhhh!!!!! Needless to say is was a nightmare but after about a week of her falling asleep next to the door as she kicked the crap out of it, I happened on a thought she has never in her life had the door open while she slept but I said to her, "If you stay in your bed I will leave the door open a little bit". She said ok and life has been much better ever since. she still has her days but most days I put her down and kiss her goodnight and she says "little bit mom? little bit?" and I say "yes Kennedi if you stay in your bed then I will leave the door open a little bit." Naps are not as smooth especially now that the kids are out of school but she is progressing and we have escaped the binky now if potty training could be that easy!
The potty training begins (sort of)
I have not really launched myself into the potty training thing. I ask her a couple times a day if she wants to go potty sometimes she says yes and we sit on the potty and usually she goes but most times she says "no I good" but she is getting to the point that I can't ignore it much longer. I was in the shower a few days ago and Jaxon was suppose to be watching her but I got out to a trail of her clothes so I yelled her name and she came running in with nothing on saying I poopy mom and sure enough she was stinky and from what I gathered from the evidence she had left.... she had taken her stinky diaper off in the bathroom tried to wipe with toilet paper but then went in her bedroom and climbed on the changing table and tried to wipe with the wipes the toilet had poop on it the changing table had poop on it and there was a trail of poopy wipes from one room to the other fabulous!!! I really should just buck up and do it but I HATE HATE HATE it!!! someday soon maybe when school starts and we have the whole day to ourselves.
But all this craziness aside we are thoroughly enjoying are sweet little tiny. She calls her dad "Dab" and wears princess dresses everyday! She is completely enthralled with Cinderella and wands and she loves to dance she will dance in the car in her buckles or in the isles at church during the hymn. She loves her big sister and follows her everywhere repeating everything she says. We are trying are hardest to savor every moment of this last baby. We wish we could just push pause on but instead it feels like we are on fast forward.
