Soccer Camp

Jaxon goes to soccer camp he had a week of soccer camp and a week of Basketball camp and loved it they ran them like crazy and taught them a lot and it gave hime something to do which starts to be a problem with these school age kids.

Kids are too smart.

So I love blogging the things that Jaxon says he comes up with doozies sometimes and as I have read back this past year I am so grateful that I wrote them they are great and too soon do we forget them. So here is the latest that just made me laugh.

Jaxon and I went to his SEP conference back in our day(Parent teacher conference) anyway his teacher was going off about how great of a reader his was and said something like. " You read so well." and Jaxon says "My middle name is Reid". It took us a second but then we just laughed and shook our heads. She then said "Maybe everyone should give there kids the middle name Reid." and then added (after all she is a teacher) "but it is spelled different hu?"

Kids say the darndest things

So we were driving in the car the other day and jaxon says

Jaxon, "Mom I am trying really hard not to step on anyones toes."
Mom, "why is that?"
Jaxon, "Because I don't want to have to kiss anyone"
Mom, "what do you mean"
Jaxon, "you know mom missle toe"
Mom, "what"
Jaxon "I don't want to have to kiss someone if I step on there toe"
Mom, "Jaxon that isn't exactly how it works, Mistletoe is a plant that people hang above there doors and if you stand under it you have to kiss"
Jaxon, "OH"

So so funny

Jaxon is also very into the girls and came home on Thursday telling me that he kisses a girl named Oliva on the cheek. He and his buddys are chasing the girls all the time at resess he says because the "ask him too" but usually it is not about kissing but he has now developed a crush on this little girl after she told him she was on her list of "boyfriends". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!! this can't be happening already.

Winter day in October

So the other day when it snowed we got a couple of inches and the kids were dying to go out and play. Personally I was against it becuase who wants to start all of that winter gear clean up in October right? Well there father (who when I say "kids" is included) took them all out ot make an early October snowman. Ella of course wanted to go as well. I hadn't bought her a winter coat yet but my sister had given me a snow suit So we put it on her and you can see how well that worked. ( we are going to have to find something different for the snow days) She looks like a big pink sumo wresler. Anyway they all had a ball. Thank goodness there dad is a kid at heart.

I bake!

Ok so I have decided that with all the food storage I should use some of it. So I have taken up baking bread I have been at it for 3 weeks now and my family really likes it. I was so proud of my domesticness that the first time I took a few picks (to tell you the truth I did it becuase I wasn't sure it would ever happen again) but I am quite enjoying it and it really isn't as big of a deal as a thought it would be. while I baked Gavin found all the hats in my room and decided that he needed to wear them all. What ever entertains them right!

Just venting

OK so I don't want to sound like the pessimist that I can be on occasion but I am sitting hear with a screaming baby in one room (she suffers because I can't deal with her screaming at me and him at the same time thank goodness she woke up Gavin (I know who would be greatful for that) and they are now playing nicely)and a screaming 6 year old in another. AAAAHHHHH! I know that all of you probably have perfect children who do what their told and don't talk back. Never having temper tantrums or at least you all figure it will be over by age 6 right:) I don't know what I have done wrong with baby number 1 (the poor thing might just be a case of inexperience) but holy cow!! I am sorry no one really has to read this I just needed to channel the frustration somewhere other than at him too much yelling has already come out of my mouth. Something that I am trying so very hard to overcome and chidren like Jax are making it very difficult but to my credit I didn't start yelling the whole first hour untill he came out and hadn't change his attitude at all. Anyway Jaxon is taking piano lessons these days and as long as he sits up and does what he wants thing are fine. But when he gets frustrated you can't teach him how to solve the problem he just completely goes out of his mind. He has been in his room (Ella's room because that is the room with a lock on the outside) for 2 hours now. I have attempted to free him 4 times when his reaction was telling me he wanted to talk further into the room instead of by the door so the he could "make a run for it" the last run had him out on the ledge of the window thinking about jumping and that landed him back in the room for the rest of the night. Well to cool off I am here writing it down. I am sure that one day it will make for a great story to tell to the grandkids but for today I am wondering where I will get the strength to finishing raising him. Is there an early missionary program, a church version of Boot camp. If anyone has heard of any let me know.

Ella blossom's into a 1 year old

So Believe it or not on the 16th of July Ella turned one. We did a big party all about gardens and I baked a cake and made gumdrop flowers to go on it (which are quite fun to make but I should have worked on them before the last minute so they acctually looked good) Anyway we had flower shaped sugar cookie center pieces and everyone decorated a pot and then planted a flower. We had a great time and enjoyed everyone's company and support. Thanks to all who came and helped us celebrate.

4th of July at Echo

We spent the week of the 4th of July at Echo reservoir boating and playing in the water. It was sooo great to finally get the boat out (first time this year) and play a little.

We spent the 4th in the little town of Henifer. this really made me want to move to a small town. The kids started the day out by riding in a bike-a-thon which was 3 miles long and they were troopers going up hills and all over they gave them a t-shirt,drink, and a treat at the end they all felt pretty accomplished Jaxon was so excited all he talked about for Days was his Bike-A-thon.

We then had a fabulous breakfast for 5 bucks a person one of the better "fireman breakfast"types I have had. We then went back to the lake and played until dinner time when we went back to Henifer for there BBQ dinner and had the best beef I had ever eaten which is saying a lot because I don't eat beef and it was even cold which I NEVER eat but I was hungry so I tried it and loved it. Anyway we then listened to a concert by Tyler Payne who happened to be my mom's cousin(Well there dad and my mom our first cousins) and his little brother Josh Payne played the electrical guitar who I went to high school with. So we went and talked to them afterwards. Of course they didn't have any idea who we were (Josh vaguely remembered me) but mom had to go tell them we were related anyway. It was all very fun and small town I loved it.

On our ride home we stopped at a restaurant my sister had heard about called Taggart Grill in Taggart Utah. It is now my favorite place to eat. They put all of there sandwiches on homemade Pitas and everything is Delicious. I highly recommend stopping in if you ever go through Weber canyon it is right of the Taggart exit. All and all what a great 4th of July

Kids say the darnest things III

So here are a few of my kids latest funnies

Jaxon 7/19/08
Jaxon and I were driving back from a birthday party for one of my friends little boy. We were talking about how much fun we had. He said "I guess that it is true then when you have fun" but couldn't come of with the rest of the saying so I filled "time flies". So then he asked me what tomorrow was I said Sunday. He then said" Mom on Monday lets just play boring games and watch T.V. all day " I said "you want to play "boring Games" he then said "yeah to see if it is really true and we can have a really long day."

Gavin 7/11/08
We were out on the boat for the end party to Girls camp and Gavin was there. One of our young woman had come late and so she was eating on the boat while others skied. Gavin wanted her granola bar and I kept telling him that it was Kim's and she was hungry and needed it. After a while she kind of said under her breath that he could have it. A minute later he asked again and I told him the same thing that she needed to eat her lunch she was hungry and he replied "No mom she Said," " He can have it" quoting her word for word and talking like he playing the part of Kim. Kind of a hard one to write about but it was so funny.

Jaxon 7/4/08
We are camping for the 4th of July and Jaxon was playing with his new brother-in-law Mark He comes over to me and says sometimes mark is tricky so I call him the trick or treater you know because he's sometimes the tricker and so Zach and I are going to have to keep an eye on him.

Jaxon's B-day

Jaxon turned 6 on the 7th of June (better late than never right) here is a little tribute to him. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAX!!!

Jaxon is such a fun little boy. He is so full of energy and comes up with the darnest things to say. He is smarter than a whip and can come up with counter offers and nagociations like crazy. I really have to stay on my toes. He loves being with people and has a hard time playing alone even watching movies or playing the WII he wants me or have a friend to play/watch with him. He is extremely competitive though (if you know my husband you can figure out why) however he doesn't really know how to handle it yet so if he finds himself loosing he will quickly find a reason to stop playing or an excuse why it isn't going his way. I try so hard to teach him to be a good looser and play fair I hope some day he gets it. He loves playing all kinds of ball especially with his dad. Grin can't spend enough time with him shooting hoops, playing catch, or practicing golf. He is always saying (we never play) even when it has been 5 minutes since they were out playing. He is truly a joy to have around and always saying something or doing something to make us laugh we love him so much and don't know what this family would be like without him. WE LOVE YOU JAX! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

LIVE AND LEARN

Friday night my sisters kids came over for a sleep over so they could have a night on the town (her husband's birthday) Anyway I think that I blogged the story of the "twins" (my Gavin and her Edyn both 2 1/2 yrs. old) put metal in my mom's microwave and about burned the house down. Well apparently we didn't learn enough from that event so we got another lesson. I had forgotten to turn the oven off after cooking dinner (something I have a hard time with:( ) anyway when the babies get together they love to play house and "cook" hence the microwave incident. Well they starting putting there "dinner" which included a
play mixing bowl about 4 peek-a-blocks and 3 or 4 jars of baby food and 2 other things that were unreconizable in the oven. They do this lots but usually the oven is off so here are the lesson's we learned from this incident.

  • Kristie learned to TURN OFF THE OVEN
  • Grin learned that when babies are putting stuff in the oven check it or tell them to stop
  • Jaxon, Ali, and Zachary learned that if you are having a hard time breathing becuase it reeks of smoke TELL AN ADULT

Well I was upstairs and smelled smoke grin and I RAN down stairs to find a basement filled with black soot smoke. I honestly do not know how the kids were not coughing for breath and the stove was actually on fire flames and all. we grabbed the baking soda and grin put it out. AAAAAHHHHH! so so scary and the scariest part of all was the kids who just sat there so engulfed in the WII they didn't seem to care or notice. It was a big scare for all of us everyone got a big lecture on fire safety.

Kids say the darndest things II

I took treats to Jaxon's class the other day for the celebration of his birthday because his is in the summer anyway there was another mom there doing birthday treat too. what a sugar over load for those little kindergartner's, of course they loved it. So as I was leaving the other mom said "I have to tell you what your son said to me" this start of conversation is never a good thing especially when it comes to Jaxon (remember the bald story) Well I guess when they went on there field trip she was a chaperons. Jaxon was sitting there watching her for a long time she said looking like he was trying to figure something out. after a while he jump up and pointed to her and said"I know who you look like those fish at the bottom of the ocean that have the light on top of there head" (holding his hand out in front of him to show her what he was talking about) she said he walked away just as pleased with him self as he could be for figuring it out. I was mortified I didn't even know what to say I simply apologized and got out of there as soon as possible I don't think we will call her for play dates anytime soon. YIKES I truly don't know where he gets these things except that if you know his father he tend to speek before he thinks as well.

Kids say the Darnest things

I am starting another weekly maybe monthly post for the funny things my kids say again mostly for my benefit but you might all enjoy.

Gavin: The other day we walked Jaxon to school. Almost everyday I remind him to turn in his book so we can get another one. I call out "don't forget to turn in your book." I remind him right as he is going in the door because even then he tends to forget. Well this particular day we hadn't got the book read enough so I didn't say anything. But as we turned to go home Gavin turns and says"Jaxon give your book back today". Man they hear everything.

Gavin: Last wednesday Grin was changing his clothes after working in the yard gavin came in and studied him for a while. Then left the room and came back completely undressed with a brown shirt in his hands (this was the color of dad's shirt) then he sat there studying his dad again. I came in and saw that he had undressed when we had already taken care of that. As you all know it is hard enough to get everybody ready once. Anyway as he left to go get "Jeans" to match dad I called to him "Gavin why are you undressed we are leaving get your clothes on." His response was yelling right at me "BE QUIET MOM" yikes I am doing such a great job. At least he didn't say shut up right:)

These next few are from Jaxon in years past but I haven't written them down yet so I thought while I was at it and haven't forgotten I would write them down.

Jaxon: Jaxon was in his first primary class after nursery. His teacher was wonderful and loved all of his comments he is full of funny things but this particular one she shared with me wasn't so funny to me. Thank goodness she didn't seem to bothered by it. I was mortified. He was in class and she said that her husband was coming in to talk to them about something. He came in and talked to them (he happens to be loosing his hair) and she said that she noticed that he would answer his questions but acted very bothered never looking right at him and kind of squirming in his chair. When her husband left she asked Jax if he was ok and Jaxon's response was. " I just don't like bald people". She said that he was still a good guy and she loved him. She said that Jaxon looked like he was really struggling with this in his mind and responded"I know but it just isn't normal". How embarrasing We had many talks after that about loving everyone no matter how they looked.

Jaxon: The summer he turned 4 years old he learned to ride a two wheel bike. He was out riding it and came running in the house yelling that he had crashed but when I asked him about it he said that he had jumped off. I said good job and he responded. "mom I am my own Rescue Hero."

As I remember things I might bore you all with more. it seems that this is the easiest way for me to get them written down.

P.S. Does anyone know if it is possible to save you Blog to a disk?

My DREAMS get a reality check!!!!

So there is a house being built in our neighborhood. (above)I have been running past it on my runs and watched it progress it is now finished and we rode past in on a family run this morning and to my extreme delight it was for sale by owner. So Grin and I got off the bikes and looked around. It is beautiful just what I would do if I built my own. full of architectural detail. Kitchen cabinets almost just like the ones I just chose. beauiful hardwood floors built in, columns and an open upstair overlooking the family with fabulous red iron railings. I was convinced I told Grinner we would down grade a few of the finishes in the kitchen and get it done and put it up for sale "We are moving into this house"! I have made up my mind. By the time we had come back from the bike ride I had it all worked out in my mind we would get 100,000 profit out of our house and that house would be around 350,000 and we would not have to change our payment much at all. Grin said that I was wishful thinking that the house was probably more around 450,000 still I might sale the boat to make it happen. So we got home and called the owners this is what we discovered.

Lot: 250,000 just under a 1/3rd of an acre

Square footage 4,000 finished

6,000 total

basement framed and sheetrocked

grand total: 999,000.00

That is right folks a million dollars for a beautiful but average house so there you have it what a million dollars can buy you these days in Fruit Heights Utah. So unless I can find some sucker to pay 700,00+ for my house I am SOL.

Boxelder bug Parade

Ok so this is a story that I have to remember and think it is pretty funny to share as well. We were walking Jaxon to school yesterday there was a group of boxelderbugs on the sidwalk and anyone who has seen boxelderbugs in large groups knows that there will be at least one "couple" in the group enjoying themselves. Well this group was no different. The kids sat and watched them for a moment and then Jaxon said "Mom look they are having a parade, see those two right there stuck together." Oh how soon that inocence will go quicker than I can even imagine. but I will never forget the real reason bugs are stuck together it truly must be a parade.

Ella pulls herself to stand

WOW I can't believe how quickly time goes by a few weeks ago March 27th to be exact we went to get Ella from her nap and found her standing up. She now pulls herself up to anything she can get ahold of and is crawling around like crazy I hate that they grow up so fast but it is also very fun to watch them learn and discover new things.

Our First Trip to the E.R.!!!

Well we have survived our first big accident. Gavin fell off the sofa last Thursday and cut his ear open. I was sitting right by him and picked him up just as he fell only to find that it looked like a chunk of his ear was missing. I grabbed a rag and held it to his ear with much resistance from him he was of course screaming his head off and thank goodness cartilage doesnt bleed very much. (just one of the many things I learned in this adventure). This is of course good for my sanity but not so good for stitching them up after the doctor looked at it (of course this is at 5:00 so we are now at the after hours clinic and can't see our regular doctor) he thought that a plastic surgeon should do it because of the lack of blood in cartilage and also because cartilage cannot be sewn so you have to be extremely precise in just getting the skin or the cartilage will tear right apart like paper. So off I head to the ER anyway long story short the plastic surgeon was in surgery until 8:30 that night so we had to go back and they had to put him basically under to do it. So around 11:30 that night we were finally home and in bed. What a day. But now I can say I survived my first stitches (I stayed home with the other two when Grin took Gavin to have it sewn up and was actually grateful that I they didn't do it earlier so I didn't have to watch probably the only way I survived it). I did however go with him to take them out and he was a trooper. It is looking good now and hopefully with any luck there won't be much scaring oh the fun of being a mom. The pictures are a little blurry because a hurried and took them in the ER and was a little worried about getting caught so sorry althought it might make it easier to look.

Fountains

Ella gets her fountains!! I have been waiting and waiting for Ella's hair to get long enough to put in piggy tails and we lucked out only 8 months old and we have managed to get them in they aren't exactly fountains yet but I think they are pretty darn cute!! She is sick in these pictures but her mom couldn't help taking a picture anyway.

THIRTY FLIRTY AND THRIVING

Yes I turned 30 last week and I have to say it wasn't my favorite. However my sisters made in extremely memoriable two of them showed up to my door to steel me for an old fashioned slumber party all dressed in there 80's best side ponytail, peg jeans and all. The car had thirty flirty and thriving written on it and streamers on the wipers we then met my other 2 sisters, soon to be sister in law and my mom and went to my sister Camille's house and had a totally 80's party we played twister, ate great food, prankcalled boys and watched 13 going on 30 although we didn't start it until late and I fell asleep (I am old what can I say). In the morning we completed the party with smiley face pancakes (if you know the movie you will understand) It was awesome and made the whole turning 30 pretty ok. By the way Grin drove all the way to American Fork with Ella that night so that I could have a few hours on my own what a GREAT HUBBY!! I just love him. Anyway thanks for the party girls. I love you all!
